Cinder is the OpenStack block storage service that manages the creation, attachment and detachment of block storage volumes to OpenStack instances. It provides a standardized storage interface while supporting multiple storage backends. Cinder manages the entire lifecycle of volumes, including creation, attaching and detaching volumes from instances, taking snapshots and creating volumes from snapshots.
