Meaning
The skill of introducing a lesson involves
establishing rapports with the learners,
capturing their attention and exposing them
to the essential contents.
 The INTRODUCTION provides interest and motivation to
the students. It focuses students' attention on the lesson and
its purposes. It also convinces students that they will benefit
from the lesson.
Objectives of Introduction skill
 To mentally prepare students for teaching.
 To focus the attention of students towards lesson or
content.
 To know about the students previous knowledge.
 To create curiosity for new content or topic.
 Establishing rapport with learners.
Types of Introduction
There are many ways to present an introduction.
 Asking questions to get the students thinking about the topic of the
lesson.
 Showing pictures that relate to the lesson topic.
 Telling a story to show the importance of the topic.
 Bringing in "realia" (real objects) related to the lesson.

Once there lived two friends, Ram and
Gopal.One day Gopal fell sick and
could not attend school for many days.
Ram being his good friend, used to
write notes, questions for gopal and
helped him with preparation of final
exam.When the result decalered Gopal
got A+ grades and stood first in state,
while Ram passed with A grade.
Slowly Gopal started ignoring Ram
avoided his company and used to be
with other toppers of the school.
What happened to gopal behaviour?
What is called ignorance?
So lets start our todays topic Honesty
and Friendship.
Students will listen carefully and
with curiosity.
He started ignoring Ram.
It means to show negative attitude
towards someone.
