Visitors and Residents of Hill Ridge Pond Pradeep Kumar
The abandoned construction site, all of eight acres, has slowly been accumulating rain water over the past five years.
There is enough water this summer to support an ecosystem that includes resident birds like ducks and visiting predatory kites
Interesting residents include Little Grebe, Moorhen and Spot-billed ducks.
While the Grebes started family, others may follow
The ecosystem also supports several small sun-birds and the like
Come, let’s see…
Hill Ridge Springs, a gated community in Gachibowli, Hyderabad has a park – the most beautiful place within.
Several birds frequent it daily. This presentation is a record of the following:
Sunbirds, Oriental White-eye, Coppersmith Barbet, Tickel’s blue flycatcher, Rufous Treepie, Spotted dove, Asian Koel etc.
Come, let us see....
Trekking along the railway traks, in the hills somewhere on the way to Araku. Crossed several bridges and walked through many tunnels. A photodocumentary.
A rare sighting of Egyptian Vulture (Neophron Percnopterus) in Hyderabad, India. For the past few weeks this bird is visiting our neighbourhood regularly, mostly in the mornings. It perches on the top floors of this tall building, and views the surroundings for considerable time. Its flight is very graceful.
China introduced high speed rail through a nationwide network. These are called G Trains, and run at about 300 kmph. I travelled from Nanchang to Shenzhen in Jan 2015.
Pearl river cruise, GuangZhou, a photodocumentary by npkumarPradeep Kumar
A photodocumentary of Pearl River Cruise, Guangzhou. You have a wonderful time riding the boat, having a good view of well lit buildings, structures and bridges all along the banks. To top it, you can enjoy a light show for about 20 min at 8pm
Coming down to the Himalayas ... from the heights of TibetPradeep Kumar
Tibet they say is roof of the world
Coming out of Tibet by road means coming down from a height of 5000+ metres down to about 1000+ metres
At the edge of Tibetan plateau, I noticed a sudden drop
The Himalayan mountains lie on this edge and down the slope
The snow capped peaks appeared to be at a lower elevation than the edge I was standing on
The Himalayas seem grouped in clusters
These clusters are separated by the rivers flowing down
You can come down along the rivers gradually: there is no snow
As you come down, you will notice a dramatic change in the landscape: from the barren desert like look to a lush green sight, of trees with streams of water gushing down … an all too familiar sight
Lightning and thunder excite everyone alike. Last night there were summer showers around Hyderabad, India, I attempted to capture the lightning show from my balcony with a camera canon sx40.
Kites in Hyderabad appear once a year. And when they do, it is madness all over. They create the quintessential festival atmosphere during Sankranti every January. Entire household get involved in flying kites. All of a sudden, the kites are gone. Well, off the sky, but remain on trees and electric poles for quite some days.
An Yi Village, Rural China, a Photodocumentary by npkumarPradeep Kumar
Photodocumentary of our visit to three villages in Jiangxi Province. The villages are marked with cobbled pathways, narrow lanes, distinctive architecture; and each boasts of a few mansions. Some of the mansions are well preserved too.

Weekly markets are part of the active rural economy of India. Here you'll find local produce as well as goods brought from cities. You'll appreciate the liveliness and the colors.

51. We found the road ahead to be more slushy. We had neither
the courage to move forward nor the energy to trace back.
52. Ashwin started
calling for
help…
As per the GPS, we
seem to be somewhere
deep inside Apache
Indian Reservation
Area. None was willing
to tow us out. If the cops
find out, the vehicle
could be confiscated
and we’ll be in the
cooler for trespassing.
If the Indians find us,
they can shoot us
54. Then sat down, thinking…
Mulling over my life so far.:
childhood, education, challenges in life.
Thinking about my lovely wife back home.
And the good fortune I’d been having:
making photo-stories in Japan, China, US.
Remembering my true friends like you
55. If you don’t hear
from us in the next 48 hrs,
it means we are still waiting for help.
And this could be my last photo-story
