The document summarizes a settlement of lawsuits filed against California's attempts to cut funding and hours for In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS). The settlement would avoid a planned 20% cut in IHSS hours, instead instituting an 8% cut in 2013-2014 and a 7% cut in 2014. It would also prohibit cuts to state funding for IHSS worker wages. The settlement is subject to court approval, and recipients have until May 3rd, 2013 to file any objections.

On November 5, DHCS posted lists of Medi-Cal providers online that contained providers' names, addresses, provider types, and National Provider Identifier (NPI) numbers. Some lists also inadvertently included Social Security numbers for IHSS providers. Between 13,349 and 14,000 IHSS providers in several counties had their SSNs exposed online. DHCS immediately removed the lists and worked to remove the data from search engines. DHCS is notifying affected providers, offering free credit monitoring for a year, and reviewing policies and procedures to prevent future incidents.
The Department of Health Care Services notified county welfare directors of a data breach involving In-Home Supportive Services provider names and Social Security Numbers. On November 5th, DHCS posted lists of Medi-Cal providers from 25 counties online that included names, addresses, provider types, and unintentionally, one provider's Social Security Number. The lists were removed on November 14th after the SSN was discovered. On November 20th, a provider found their SSN online after searching their name and details. DHCS took steps to ensure all data from the lists was removed from the internet and set up a hotline for providers, sending letters to those affected in the notified counties.
