The "Impact in the Forests" report explores pathways to unlock business solutions for deforestation-free trade chains in Asia. It summarizes that across three focal countries and landscapes studied, very few enterprises directly contribute to reducing deforestation and those that do generally do not have large scale impact. However, opportunities exist to build on existing forest-related micro-enterprises and scale them up through various pathways. The report calls for an initiative to foster an ecosystem approach linking entrepreneurial support services, policies, and incentives to develop more businesses that can operate at a large scale without causing deforestation.
