Hosea prophesied that God would betroth Israel to himself in faithfulness and that they would know the Lord. God would answer the heavens and earth with grain, wine and oil, and those who were not his people would be called his people. When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem saying they saw his star and came to worship him. King Herod was troubled by this news and asked the chief priests where the Messiah was to be born. They said Bethlehem according to prophecy. The wise men followed the star to Bethlehem and found Jesus with Mary, worshiped him, and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
