The purpose of sweating is
to help cool your body
down during exercise. If
you are not properly
hydrated then you body
cannot adequately cool
down which can lead to
over heating.
If sweat loss exceeds fluid
intake, this will lead to
dehydration
You need water in blood to
help transport oxygen,
carbohydrates, and
nutrients to muscle.
Fluid needs increase with exercise
Gatorades are good to drink along with water
during activity that last longer than one
hour. It is not needed for exercise any
shorter than that.
8 oz every 15-20 minutes after exercise – no less than 24 oz
Drink 16 oz of water 1-2 hours before exercise
