Cachi
seclantas
In the heart of the Valles Calchaquíes we
can encounter the town of Cachi, in the
north-east of argentina, with an altitude
of 1,228 above sea level. Its local dwellers
maintain intact the ancestral traditions and
customs which can be observed in their
handicrat works in the loom, their pottery
and ceramics as well as the regional cuisine
ofered.
his old town seems like a portrait made
from a past time. It has narrow and pebbled
streets, with typical colonial style houses
which were built with local materials,
cardon wood and adobe, showing rustic
loors.
It also ofers many tourist attractions;
e.g. the Pío Pablo Díaz museum which
shows important handicrat pieces of the
aborigine culture. Geographically speaking,
the place ofers the stunning Cerro nevado
of Cachi, which is considered an ideal place
for practicing trekking and rock climbing.
his is the prodigal land of fabrics cratsmen and the place where the salteño poncho was irst made. It is believed that
the name of this small village comes from the old name of the brealitos river, which was before known as “seclantás”
stream.
seclantás is one more of the old towns which is located on the riverbanks of the Calchaquí river, a few metres from
route 40.
In the year 1814 these lands where the meeting point in the Valles Calchaquíes for the patriots who were responsible
for helping belgrano, our leader in the independence movement and ight against the spanish Crown.
seclantás is strategically located in the centre of towns and dwellings, full of tourist and historical attractions for the
visitors.
today the dwelling shows a main street which is central for the activities of the place. We can observe houses with
fresh galleries, roofs of reed thatch, earthenware and well-maintained facades.

his dwelling is of great historical value and embezzles
visitors for its beauty. Founded in the middle of the
XVII century was later inherited in1775 by the son of
Domingo de Isasmendi, nicolás severo, who brought
the country estate into a time of prosperity. Isasmendi
was the last realist governor of salta.
Visitors can still see the magniicence of the chapel and
the country estate across from the main house, which is

are narrow and have rectal angles on the corners. he

terracotta mingled with ochre and green colours which
make of these hills a place of breath-taking beauty.

angastaco
he valleys always surprise their visitors for diferent reasons. sometimes it is for its
gracious shapes which make part of the mountains and the amazing colours. angastaco
has its amazing shapes and unique shades in the landscape. only the sky is unique, non-
transferable, and with its own identity.
angastaco is located in the middle of the hills, in a valley surrounded by the river of the
same name which crosses the town and has its streams in the Pucará and inishes its course
farther in the Calchaquí river. It is remarkable the contrast between the intense green
of the cultivation and the sandy soil of the valleys. as from mid-XVIII century, the local
aborigines who lived in angastaco depended on the missionaries of the “misión Franciscana
Del rosario De Calchaquí”, settled in the dwelling of san Isidro, near Cafayate.
any visitor to angastaco is embezzled by the charm of the place and feels eager to return to
wonder around this beautiful place. near the town, on the way to Cafayate, we can ind this
moon-like landscape which seems to have been patiently painted by nature, mainly in the
paths to “Ventisquero” and the “Flecha”. Visitors may go along its way over and over again
and each time would ind endless combinations of shapes and colours.

Pampa húmeda o Pampa Gaucha
he Pampa húmeda is a sub-region of about 600.000 square kilometres of meadows
which include part of Buenos aires province, south of Córdoba province, south of santa
fe province, and the west side of La Pampa province. its surface is exceptionally lat, which
turns it into one of the few territories which is suitable for intensive agriculture, especially
grains. for this reason the place was given the name of “the granary of the world” as its
“surplus” along the XiX century was used and is still of use for feeding a great number
of people around the world (until the years 1980 / 1990: west europe; from 1990 China
and many other countries. his extensive region in the south Cone, the Pampa húmeda
has been and will hopefully continue being an important food supplier to europe, China,
etc.).
he natural vegetation of the place was a meadow rich in gramineae species, with scattered
plantations of trees where you can ind carobs, talas and chañar woods. heading to the
south-west, the visitor can observe hills and woods full of calden trees and in most of the
region beautiful views with plenty of ombús, emblematic tree of the Pampa húmeda.
Until the end of the XiX century and the beginning of the XX century, the Pampa
húmeda was mainly involved in extensive cattle growth as the area had bovine, ovine
and equine livestock which almost naturally appeared in the area ater the invasion of the
spanish in the XVi century.
he Pampa húmeda is a region which, thanks to historical cattle growth and agricultural
activities done in the area, is identiied with the image of a countryside man who is mainly
devoted to the duties and tasks which characterized countryside life and are performed on
horseback, being this symbolised by the argentinean Gaucho.

Cachi
seclantas
in the heart of the valles Calchaquíes we
can encounter the town of Cachi, in the
north-east of argentina, with an altitude
of 1,228 above sea level. its local dwellers
maintain intact the ancestral traditions and
customs which can be observed in their
handicrat works in the loom, their pottery
and ceramics as well as the regional cuisine
ofered.
his old town seems like a portrait made
from a past time. it has narrow and pebbled
streets, with typical colonial style houses
which were built with local materials,
cardon wood and adobe, showing rustic
loors.
it also ofers many tourist attractions;
e.g. the Pío Pablo Díaz Museum which
shows important handicrat pieces of the
aborigine culture. Geographically speaking,
the place ofers the stunning Cerro nevado
of Cachi, which is considered an ideal place
for practicing trekking and rock climbing.
his is the prodigal land of fabrics cratsmen and the place where the salteño poncho was
irst made. it is believed that the name of this small village comes from the old name of the
brealitos river, which was before known as “seclantás” stream.
seclantás is one more of the old towns which is located on the riverbanks of the Calchaquí
river, a few metres from route 40.
in the year 1814 these lands where the meeting point in the valles Calchaquíes for the patriots
who were responsible for helping belgrano, our leader in the independence movement and
ight against the spanish Crown.
seclantás is strategically located in the centre of towns and dwellings, full of tourist and
historical attractions for the visitors.
Today the dwelling shows a main street which is central for the activities of the place. We can
observe houses with fresh galleries, roofs of reed thatch, earthenware and well-maintained
facades.
at an altitude of 2,100 metres above sea level, the climate of the village is dry and arid. it is

angastaco
Molinos
he valleys always surprise their visitors for diferent reasons. sometimes it is for its
gracious shapes which make part of the mountains and the amazing colours. angastaco
has its amazing shapes and unique shades in the landscape. only the sky is unique, non-
transferable, and with its own identity.
angastaco is located in the middle of the hills, in a valley surrounded by the river of the
same name which crosses the town and has its streams in the Pucará and inishes its course
farther in the Calchaquí river. it is remarkable the contrast between the intense green
of the cultivation and the sandy soil of the valleys. as from mid-Xviii century, the local
aborigines who lived in angastaco depended on the missionaries of the “Misión Franciscana
Del rosario De Calchaquí”, settled in the dwelling of san isidro, near Cafayate.
any visitor to angastaco is embezzled by the charm of the place and feels eager to return to
wonder around this beautiful place. near the town, on the way to Cafayate, we can ind this
moon-like landscape which seems to have been patiently painted by nature, mainly in the
paths to “ventisquero” and the “Flecha”. visitors may go along its way over and over again
and each time would ind endless combinations of shapes and colours.
his dwelling is of great historical value and embezzles
visitors for its beauty. Founded in the middle of the
Xvii century was later inherited in1775 by the son of
Domingo de isasmendi, nicolás severo, who brought
the country estate into a time of prosperity. isasmendi
was the last realist governor of salta.
visitors can still see the magniicence of the chapel and
the country estate across from the main house, which is
today a hotel called “la hacienda De Molinos”. here
we can see the church of los Molinos which holds the
remains of Don nicolás severo De isasmendi, who
built it by the end of the Xviii century. he church
shows old statues and was declared national historical
monument in 1942.
he town of los Molinos is similar to any other town in

with big windows protected with bars. he streets
are narrow and have rectal angles on the corners. he

san Carlos
Cafayate
he town of san Carlos, in the heart of the valles

founded four times by the spanish as the aborigines of
the area would not allow their settlement.
