The Arts and Letters Committee of Suburban Houston Fort Bend Alumnae Chapter of Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. hosted a red carpet event for the movie Hidden Figures. Three
brilliant African-American women at NASA serve as the brains behind one of the greatest
operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that
restored the nation's confidence, turned around the Space Race and galvanized the world. All
attendees of the red carpet event were presented with ID badges like those worn by the women in
the movie. The ID badges held a picture of one of the three women from the movie. At the
conclusion of the movie, all attendees were treated with a piece of Mardi Gras king cake that
held “hidden figures” which were baby elephants.
