Blackbird Academy and Preston Palmer Studios Present HERITAGE
Blackbird Academy of Arts is partnering with Preston Palmer Studios to bring a unique event to
the Conway community. Heritage: A Celebration of Arkansas Songwriters will take place on
Saturday, October 15 at 7:00 pm. The collaboration will feature live music and dance by a
combination of faculty and advanced students, highlighting Arkansas songwriters. "Preston and
Blackbird both have a desire to bring innovative arts experiences to Conway and we both have
the philosophy that arts education should be taken outside the classroom into the community--
it's a natural partnership," said Blackbird’s Executive Director, Jennie Strange.
The event will be hosted on UCA’s campus in the Snow Fine Arts Recital Hall. Tickets are $10
for adults and $5 for children and students. They can be purchased at http://www.heritage-
tickets.eventbrite.com. "We wanted to bring together live music and live dance in a seamless,
integrative format. The musicians and dancers will be featured onstage during each piece, and
Preston and I will be sharing a bit about the history of each song and the process of creating
each piece," Strange explained.
