A city was built into the mountains of Shanxi, China in an amazing but extremely difficult location. The document wonders how and why the city was built so high in the mountains, and how its residents get access to water, power, and sewage systems given the challenging terrain. The author's best guess is that it is a Buddhist monastery, as they are known for constructing in very inaccessible but scenic natural settings.
