One mistake by each goalie in Game 5 nearly cost their teams. Bishop collided with a teammate in the Lightning's zone, sending the puck to Sharp who scored for the Blackhawks. Crawford gave the puck away moments earlier for the Lightning but they did not capitalize. The small margins in this Stanley Cup Final mean one mistake can decide a game, as was the case on Saturday when the Blackhawks took a 3-2 series lead after Bishop's error cost Tampa Bay.

BrownKileyAmazingAnts! SEF Express Grant ApplicationRebecca Brown
This grant application seeks $403.56 to fund a science lesson on ants for 200 kindergarten students. The lesson would be led by Dr. Rebecca Petersen Brown and Carolyn Kiley, special education experts at two primary schools. Students would learn about ant anatomy from a book and examining real specimens. They would also use a scientist's microscope to observe live ants. To reinforce the learning, students would make clay models of ants accurately depicting their three body segments and six legs. The goals are for students to describe ant features and understand how science can be a career. Materials needed include modeling clay, pipe cleaners, and books. The lesson activities would rotate between reading, observing live ants, and crafting ant models

1. Hopatcong Upsets g Field,
Miller, Juskus. Russo Chief Stars
ROXBURY - Hopatcong, the
town in the Sussex County
woods, turned out a high school
wrestling team which wrested
the District 16 wrestling crown
from defending state champion
Randolph of Morris County
Saturday night and beat down a
challenge from this season's
pretender, Roxbury of Morris
County,
Five Hopatcong wrestlers
fought in the final round to help
the team outscore second place
tiers Randolph and Morris
Hills, 55%-49%.
Three of the Chiefs' finalists
— George Miller at 122, Joe
Russo at 148, and Carl Juskus at
] sg — won and two, Sean Hardy
at 141 and Jeff Ryder at 188 lost,
but still contributed valuable
points by virture of their second
place finishes.
The Chiefs had been given an
outside shot to win the District
title mainly on the credentials
of Miller and Juskus, and their
success in gaining five finals'
berths gave them more than an
even chance at winning their
first District title ever.
The whole tournament swung
on the 148 pound weight class,
Roxbury's Al Turoinsky carried
an imposing 18-1 record into the
District::, but lost to Lenape
Valley's Neil Vitale in the
opening round. Russo beat Scott
Guerin of Randolph, another
favorite, 3-2, to set up the final
bout with Vitale.
The Russo-Vitale bout
resembled a basketball game
as both wrestlers traded two-
pointers. Russo busted Vitale in
the third period with a reversal
in the final period to take a 10-8
lead, added a point of riding
time, and held on, barely, to
win, 11-8.
Russo's unexpected victory
all but clinched the team
victory for Hopatcong. All that
was needed was Juskus' 3:47
pin of Morris Knolls' Robin
Rorrer to make the District title
official.
Entering the finals, Hopat-
cong held slim leads over
Morris Hills and Randolph.
With five finaUfts of its own,
Morris Hills had a good shot at
the title, ana did in fact go
ahead after Ken Lennington
beat Hopatcong's Sean Hardy
at 141, but Russo and Juskus
snuffed out the Knight threat.
Randolph lost its bid early
when Roxbury's Tom Sloand
beat the Rams Chuck Jameson,
11-2 at 101. Jim Fiscus at 135
and heavyweight Nick Mygas
gave Randolph victories and
the tie with Morris Hills.
Roxbury marched through its
dual meet schedule undefeated
largely on the strengths of team
balance rather than individual
performances. This was likely
to cost the Gaels in the Districts
where individual wrestlers
contribute the bulk of a team's
points, and in fact the two
wrestlers Roxbury advanced to
the finals, the undefeated
Sloand brothers, Tom at 101 and
Jack at 115, bore this out per-
fectly.
The Gaels did have eight
wrestlers survive the opening
round, but all but the Sloands
fell before the finals. Both
Sloands easily won their bouts,
Tom over Chuck Jameson and
Jack over Kevin Pryor of
Morris Hills, 7-2.
Lenape Valley had two
champions in Ed Ravo, an 11-0
victor over Rick Palanchi of
Dover, and Tony Notorberto,

not from the two Hunterdon

else, hurt the Lions of Harold
Vandermark, as North had
eight in the first round where
most team pin points are
scored.

Central's team victory as he
pulled his bout out in the waning
seconds in the consolation
round at 129 to pick up a third
place and two team points.
At 101, Central's John
Mulligan (21-1-1) rolled to a 84

Andrews (19-7-1) at 108 and
Central's Tony Cooper (23-2)
handed Steinert's Pete Brown
(17-2-1) a 6-0 loss at 115.
At 122, North's Bob
Hemhauser (15-7-1) used a half
nelson and scissors to deck
Princeton's Dave Robertson (7-
2-1) in 3:35. North's Steve
Hurford (16-4-2) edged top
seeded Harold Jones (18-3) of
Ewing, 10-7 at 129 and North's
Bill Karnish (17-2) pinned Joe
Martino (6-6-1) of Central in
1:46 at 135.
Central's Dave Nielson (17-7-
1) also knocked off a first
seeded wrestler when he
decisioned Hank Suydam (17-2-
1) of Hopewell Valley, 10-4 at
141. Dave Osmun (19-2) handed
North's Tom Farrell (17-6) an 8-
1 setback at 148 for Central's
fourth victory. And Daryl
Kanach (19-2) won his 19th bout
by defeating Ted Elker (12-6) of
Princeton, 9-1.
North's Dean VanAr^dale (23-
1) handed top seeded Chris
Holcombe (17-1-1) of West
Windsor his first loss of the
year, 3-0 at 170. Van Arsdale
scored a reversal with 1:28 left
and picked up a time point.
At 188, North's Bret Hudnutt
(13-4-3) rolled to a 9-1 win over
Central's Lud Alvater (10-7-7)
and heavyweight Hal Burton
became North's seven wirier
with a 6p2 win over Joe Alt-
vater, Lud's brother.
