Las Lomas High School - 2010 Jefferson Awards Students In Action Presentation Jefferson Awards
Students In Action is a national youth volunteer leadership, recognition and reward program, designed to pass the tradition of service on to the next generation.
Co-developed by Jefferson Awards for Public Service and Deloitte, it is now in over 250 High Schools.
Each spring, Student Leaders from the participating schools compete in regional competitions. They are asked to report on the implementation of the program, and the impact they've had, both in their schools and within their communities.

W
e know that
students do better
in a school that is a
real community, a school in
which they can forge strong
relationships with adults.
We also know that students
do better when their parents
are involved in their school.
Shipley volunteers are
crucial to this process.
—Steven S. Piltch, Head of School
Join an Event
Committee
There’s a role for everyone,
and an event that’s right for
you. Whether you have a
few hours to share, or can
take on a leadership role,
our events depend upon
volunteer support and the
proceeds support Shipley
students and programs.

Golf Classic (June)
This event, held at White
Manor Country Club, needs
volunteers to help recruit
sponsors and to assist on
the course during the outing.
Shipley Shops (October)
Shops from all over the
country gather together to
bring a spectacular array
of merchandise for early
holiday shopping. Parents
and alumni volunteer in
many different ways at The
Shops, including staffing
Shipley’s own booths.
Spring Auction (April)
The largest fundraising
event of the year, the Spring
Auction generates funds that
further enhance the Shipley
educational experience. The
event includes silent and
live auctions, great food, live
music, and lots of fun.
Secret Gardens (May)
This self-guided tour of
private gardens is held in a
different area each year. The
committee plans and hosts
the tour, which includes
a luncheon with selected
vendors and Shipley’s
Garden Boutique.
Shipley strives to improve
the quality of campus life
by providing programs
and events that encourage
participation by the whole
school community. We
welcome parents as our
partners in the education of
their child. There are many
opportunities for parents
to get involved at Shipley
and we encourage you to
become an active part of
our community.
