Gilberto Mestrinho served three non-consecutive terms as Governor of Amazonas from 1959-1963, 1983-1987, and 1991-1995. He also served as mayor of Manaus from 1956-1958 and as a senator. Mestrinho died of lung cancer in 2009 at age 81 in Manaus. Eduardo Ribeiro served two non-consecutive terms as Governor of Amazonas from 1890-1891 and 1892-1896. Nejmi Jomaa Abdel Aziz has been the first lady of Amazonas since her husband Omar José Abdel Aziz became governor. She was born in 1970 and has lived in Amazonas since 1994.

 Gilberto Mestrinho de Medeiros Raposo (February 23, 1928
Manaus - July 19, 2009 Manaus) was a Brazilian politician.
Mestrinho served as the Governor of the state of Amazonas on
three separate occasions. His first term as Governor was from 1959
until 1963. His second term in office lasted from 1983 to 1987, while
his third term as Governor of Amazonas extended from 1991 until
1995.
 Mestrinho also served as the Mayor of Manaus from 1956 until
1958 and a Senator in the Brazilian Senate during his political
career.
 Gilberto Mestrinho died of lung cancer at the Hospital Prontocord
in Manaus, Brazil, on July 19, 2009, at the age of 81. He had been
hospitalized for the preceding 15 days due to his deteriorating
health. Mestrinho was survived by his wife, Maria Emília
Mestrinho, and nine children.

6. Eduardo Ribeiro

 Born in St. Louis, September 18, 1862 – October
14, 1900) was a Brazilian politician. He was governor
of Amazonas, November 2, 1890 to May 5, 1891 and
of February 27, 1892 to July 23, 1896. The Opera
House was being built during his administration.
