George Town is the capital city of the Malaysian state of Penang. It is located on the northeastern coast of Penang Island and has a population of approximately 740,000. George Town has a rich cultural heritage and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008 due to its unique architectural and cultural townscape without parallel anywhere in East and Southeast Asia.
