Google Developer Groups (GDGs) on Campus are university-based communities
that bring together students who are passionate about technology, coding, and
innovation. These groups operate as extensions of the larger GDG program, which
is a global initiative by Google aimed at fostering collaboration among developers,
technologists, and tech enthusiasts.

How did this all start?
GDSC started in India in
2017 as a pilot to help
solve the challenges
university graduates were
facing securing
employment in the tech
industry.
Then expanded to
Indonesia and
Sub-Saharan Africa GDSC in Turkey was

To help students transition from aspiring developers to professionals, Google Developer Student Clubs
(GDSC) is now part of the Google Developer Groups (GDG) community. We’re unifying GDSC and GDG
into a single, cohesive community called Google Developer Groups (GDG).
GDSC will now be known as GDGs on Campus, a dedicated space within the GDG community focused
on nurturing the next generation of developers within university settings. This strengthens our
commitment to empowering developers of all backgrounds fostering a supportive and inclusive
community where knowledge-sharing, connections, and innovation thrive.
Leadership tenure: no longer one year cohort but rather no ‘end date’ to ensure continuous
engagement for your communities
