A total of 157 participants from 33 countries attended the webinar on the Application of Sensors in Precision Aquaculture (#aquasensors) on the 25th of May, 2021. I gave to talks, this is my second talk to introduce the Access2Sea project
Second Symposium on Welfare in Aquaculture 2020: Operational Welfare Indicato...Sara Barrento
Swansea University in collaboration with the University of Crete hosted the Second Symposium on Welfare in Aquaculture on the 26th of November 2020. Over 260 participants attended this free webinar where six international speakers discussed the use of operational welfare indicators in farmed fish. This event is a follow up of the very successful "1st symposium on welfare in aquaculture - welfare indicators for novel species".

Educational outreach to 2 lake communities in Wayne County Pennsylvania. The results of private well water testing and using these findings to develop a customized baseline water testing program for the Poconos Community, private well owners in the region, community water sources, public water supplies, and watershed monitoring organizations.
Real Estate Transfer Evaluation Program
This program was designed to protect home buyers, sellers, seller’s agents and the community. Sewage from a failed sewage disposal (septic) system can flow into back yards, wetlands or nearby creeks. A damaged water supply system can contaminate the water serving many homes. Before transferring ownership, a septic system and/or water supply system evaluation must be done. LEARN MORE

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

DevOps and Testing slides at DASA ConnectKari Kakkonen
My and Rik Marselis slides at 30.5.2024 DASA Connect conference. We discuss about what is testing, then what is agile testing and finally what is Testing in DevOps. Finally we had lovely workshop with the participants trying to find out different ways to think about quality and testing in different parts of the DevOps infinity loop.
Generating a custom Ruby SDK for your web service or Rails API using Smithyg2nightmarescribd
Have you ever wanted a Ruby client API to communicate with your web service? Smithy is a protocol-agnostic language for defining services and SDKs. Smithy Ruby is an implementation of Smithy that generates a Ruby SDK using a Smithy model. In this talk, we will explore Smithy and Smithy Ruby to learn how to generate custom feature-rich SDKs that can communicate with any web service, such as a Rails JSON API.

4. UAA Factors 40 CFR 131.10(g)
• 1. Natural Pollutant Sources
• 2. Natural, Ephemeral, Intermittent or Low
Flow Conditions
• 3. Non-Remedial, Human Caused Conditions
• 4. Hydrologic Modifications
• 5. Natural Physical Features
• 6. Substantial and Widespread Economic and
Social Impact
5. The “Outcomes”
1. Warm Water Habitat
2. Exceptional Aquatic Habitat
3. Modified Aquatic Habitat
4. Impairment
5. Remove Use
6. What do we want?
When do we want it?
Permittee stakeholders want an off-ramp that
• Is easy to use and predictable.
• Is possible to understand outcomes
beforehand
• Is not unreasonably expensive
• Is not fraught with uncertainty and risk
Would like a protocol in hand before rule is
effective.
7. What do we want?
When do we want it?
Environmental stakeholders want an on-ramp
that
• Is easy to use and predictable
• Requires minimal level of effort to add
waters
• Can be used by the public
8. Early Comments
• No provisions for flow –based decisions
(permanent flow, permanent pools)
• Criteria do not distinguish between bins
• Some of the guidance documents and
protocols are not applicable to headwater
streams.
• Process for going from “information
gathering” to “decision making” is a bit of
black box.
9. UAA Factors 40 CFR 131.10(g)

11. Pop Quiz
Who is best former director of the Water Protection Program?
12. Pop Quiz
Does flow (or lack of flow) enter into the decision process? If so,
what protocol do we use to determine whether the stream has
permanent flow and permanent pools?
13. Pop Quiz
If a segment above the 100K is surveyed and there is no
permanent flow or permanent pools is that an end point?
14. Pop Quiz
If a segment within the 100K is surveyed and there is no
permanent flow or permanent pools, is that an endpoint
15. Pop Quiz
How would respond to this statement: The on ramp for a stream or
lake should be no more than a photograph.
16. Pop Quiz
Should the level of effort to add a stream or remove a stream be:
a. About the same
b. The bar to remove a water should be a lot higher
c. The bar to add a water should be a lot higher
d. None of the above
17. Pop Quiz
If the criteria for the different habitats (warm water, modified,
exceptional) are all the same, what is the incentive for someone
to go through the process?
18. Pop Quiz
In the absence of numeric criteria, how will the data in the UAA
be evaluated?
19. Pop Quiz
Give us a look into the review committee? How will the data be
evaluated once the application is complete?
20. Pop Quiz
What is the air speed velocity of a swallow carrying a coconut?
