Optimizing for a faster user experience Pt 2: How-to.James Christie
From my presentation "I feel the need..the need for speed: Optimizing the User Experience", given at UXPA Boston 2014. This is the second half of the talk. The first half (are we slow? How slow? Why? And Why That's a Problem) used a ton of animation and rapid patter, and just doesn't make much sense on SlideShare without audio. I need to upload that to YouTube, someday.
COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS IN THE DIGITAL ERA FOUR POSSIBLE STRATEGIES TO RENEW TH...Rocco Alberto Currà
The theme of technologies, is definitely affecting everything. It also strongly entered the world of cultural heritage, developing a totally new world of visiting museums, archaeological venues and so on and so forth.
During my internship in the Exhibition Department of the GAM - Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea of Turin, my idea was to curate a project that could support the work made by the exhibition department where I was working.
The idea came from my personal interest in increasing my knowledge in contemporary art, together with my longing to add contents to those captions which normally offer limited information, and doesn’t satisfy the curiosity of visitors that, like me, want to learn more about a work of art.
This is how the project QR Code and Augmented Reality originated. I have examined several realities all around Italy and abroad, studying every single aspect and analyzing possible problems related to the use of these technologies inside an exhibition space. A very slight number of Italian realities have used the QR Codes and only in extremely rare cases, Augmented Reality has been used for Museum projects, except for a few archaeological venues’ experimental projects.
My proposal therefore, introduced these two innovative technologies, for the first time inside a Museum of Contemporary Art and in the GAM case, on the occasion of the monographic tribute to Salvatore Scarpitta.
In order to conclude the GAM exposure project in a wider sense, I have tried to improve the already good communication strategy of the museum activating different social network portals, creating a specific ads campaign for the GAM Video Library and developing a mobile App for the Museum.
This project was correlated to an e-book and published on the iTunes store.
