The myth of Halcyon describes the tragic story of Halcyon and her husband Kifka, who were punished by Zeus, leading to Kifka being transformed into a vulture and Halcyon into a seabird. To alleviate her suffering, Zeus ordered a period of calm, warm weather for 15 days in January, allowing Halcyon to care for her eggs. This tale explains the phenomenon of the 'Halcyon days' in Greece, where a warm spell occurs in the middle of winter.
