The document analyzes the impact of Brazilian scientific articles published in domestic and foreign journals indexed in the Web of Science database. It finds that articles published in foreign journals have higher citation impact factors than those published in domestic journals. Articles with international collaborators also tend to have higher impact factors, especially when published in foreign journals. The study analyzed over 36,000 Brazilian articles across 20 scientific fields from 2002-2006 to compare the citation metrics of articles based on journal of publication and presence of international collaborators.
