Enzo Ferrari and Luigi Chinetti founded Ferrari in the 1940s. They focused on racing and the US market as the world recovered from WWII. The first Ferrari road car was the 1947 125S with a 1.5L V12 engine. In the 1960s, the Ferrari 250 GT established Ferrari's reputation as a maker of grand touring cars suitable for both road and track. Today, Ferrari produces around 4,700 cars per year mostly in-house at its factory in Maranello, Italy with over 3,000 employees.
