1. The FlashForward script inside
Joseph Fiennes’ trailer should prob-
ably come with one of those digital
countdown clocks and a wired-up
bundle of TNT. Security is so tight
on the new ABC drama that every cast
and crew member is assigned a number
that’s watermarked through each script
to prevent pages from popping up online.
Even Fiennes (“Shakespeare in Love”),
the star, only gets a few pages at a time and
has to return them before getting revisions.
“It does feel a bit extreme,” he says. “But I
believe we’ve had some security leaks and
unauthorized visitors.”
Leaks? Stalkers? People! It hasn’t even aired
yet! Such is life on a show that spawned its own
fan sites before it was green-lit for production.
But here’s the kicker: Even if the security fuss is a
publicity ploy, FlashForward is actually worth its
weight in spoiler gold. The hype barely does justice
to the show’s enthralling, adrenaline-soaked first
episode—a one-hour powerhouse of intelligent
sci-fi magic and special effects as riveting as any
recent big-screen blockbuster.
Let’s begin with the premise. On an otherwise
ordinary day in Los Angeles, as people roll out of
bed, rush to work—zzzzzzweeeeeep!—a
