The AAA Foundation was established in 1947 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research affiliate of AAA/CAA with a focus on traffic safety issues in North America. The Foundation's mission is to identify traffic safety problems, foster research seeking solutions, and disseminate information resources. Surveys have found that aggressive driving is a serious concern, with 32% of respondents in 2005 viewing it as one of the top threats to road safety. The Foundation's analysis of fatal crash data from 2003-2007 found that as many as 56% involved potentially aggressive driver behaviors such as speeding, illegal lane changes, or reckless driving.
