Extend comprehension is a technique used to focus on deep processing of vocabulary knowledge. It involves students discussing a story in relation to their own experiences to enhance comprehension, allowing opportunities to generalize new vocabulary. The teacher facilitates student conversations by having students communicate their thoughts and ideas to one another without directly participating in the discussion.
