2. About Me
I am very excited about being an Early
Childhood educator because I really love to
work with children and enjoy using new
and creative ideas with children. I love
teaching the younger children because they
are very curious and very inattentive in
learning from me. I work at Roswell Head
start as a teacher assistant, and we now
have to have an associates degree in early
childhood education. I went and enrolled in
Sullivan University in September of 2012 to
work towards my Early Childhood Education
degree. It is a place where I have learned
different temperaments in children, Health
and Safety, lesson plan skills, business plan,
discipline and guidance skills, and
3. professionalism. I have been enrolled at
Sullivan University for 2 years and I have
been offered a position as a teacher at
Roswell Head start because I am so close in
getting my associates which I am not going
to stop there. My portfolio highlights some
of my work . Feel free to contact me with
any questions by emailing me
missykima@yahoo.com or calling me
(575)317-8788
4. I have learned so many things in the classes
I have taken. The thing that I learned and it
was hard for me was to write a business
plan. I learned how to get employees and
how to pay them, and I learned to write a
mission statement, and philosophy
statement. I made a brochure for my
Daycareand was able to see what it takes to
run your own business. It is very hard work
and I have accomplished a lot. I am
CPR/First Aid certified because I do work at
head start. I have so almost use it on my
own child when she was choking on a piece
of steak. I have learned to have outlet
covers, fire escape plan, and I know how to
make an emergency plan. You need to be
prepared for anything ti o happen. I even
5. stated that we need to practice lock downs
because shootings have occurred a lot
lately. I have learned to make age
appropriate lesson plans to for different age
groups. I even write them at head start
where I work know. I have wrote a resume
which I have used at school interviews.
I have learned what state federal and
licensing looks for when they come around.
I have used a lot of these in my classroom at
school and have learned that we need to
have so much room for your centers.
Discipline is not a good thing to use when
working with children. Redirect is the best
possible solution for children when they are
not doing right. We need to guide these
children that they don’t get hurt or hurt
someone else. We need to be a role model
6. for the children. Spanking is not a solution
because it teaches a child violence in some
cases. Children that have bad home life’s act
out to the attention they need. The
recommend literature for infant’s are
