EVALUATION QUESTION 6

  What have you learned about
technologies from the process of
   constructing this product?
Technologies used
• Throughout the production of my media
music magazine coursework, I have gained
experience in the use of various different
types of software and hardware, and have
learnt more about how technology is used
during production of a media product.
Technologies used
• These are the technologies that I used
  throughout the project:
• SLR Camera
• Adobe Photoshop
• Quark Xpress
• Microsoft Paint
• Blogger
• Prezi
• Microsoft PowerPoint
SLR Camera
• In order to carry out the photoshoot for my music
magazine, I had to acquire a SLR camera. This is
because the use of an SLR camera guarantees the
highest possible quality for the images, and
allows the images to look much more
professional and visually attractive for the reader.
As a first-time user of an SLR camera, I thought
that the operation of the camera was fairly
straightforward, and I quickly managed to get the
hang of using the various camera function.
Transferring the photos to a computer was also
easy with the use of a USB data cable.
Adobe Photoshop
• Photoshop was probably the software that I used
most throughout the project. Before starting the
project, I did already have a beginners’
knowledge of Photoshop, and using the program
so extensively during this course has helped me
to further my Photoshop skills. I have learnt
about more of the in-depth features of
Photoshop that are used to refine the product
even further, for example the blur tool used on
the outline of the photoshoot images.
Quark Xpress
• Aside from Photoshop, the other software I used
to edit my magazine was Quark Xpress. As I was
used to using Photoshop to edit pictures, it took
me a while to get the hang of using Quark as they
are very different pieces of software. Eventually
though, I learnt the ins-and-outs of working with
the software and figured out how to use the
various features of Quark to my advantage, for
example the very useful features that implements
columns into the text, which did come in handy
for formatting my double-page spread article into
  three columns.
Microsoft Paint
• I used the Paint application in order to
screengrab my editing process for use in my
blogs. I also used Paint’s Shape function in
order to highlight the features of Photoshop
and Quark that I used to produce the
magazine. This was a fairly easy task, ad I have
used Microsoft Paint numerous times before
  with past projects.
Blogger
• Blogger is an online blogging website, which I
used to keep track of my coursework progress
using a written blog. Blogger is a very handy
tool as it is user-friendly, easy to navigate and
also allows you to use HTML code to embed
  things like PowerPoint presentations
(uploaded to Slideshare) and audio recordings
(uploaded to Soundcloud) into your blogs.
Microsoft PowerPoint
• I have used Microsoft PowerPoint a few times
throughout both the pre-production and post-
production stages of my magazine, in order to
add some variety in to the way I have
presented my blog entries. When I finish
  producing each PowerPoint presentation, I
upload the file to a website called Slideshare,
which allows me to then embed the
presentation onto my Blogger profile using
  HTML code.
Prezi
• Prezi is an online presentation software,
similar but slightly more advanced to
Microsoft PowerPoint. It allows you to choose
  more visually interesting designs and
animations for your presentation, and it also
allows HTML embeds on your blog, so it is a
  very useful piece of software.
