Evaluation Question 4
By Selina Dennis
Wider Audience
Our wider target audience would be 16 – 25 year old males, of all ethnicities ad
religion, who live in urban areas, such as London. As males are more drawn into
horror/action genres as they find it more interesting. Therefore we have chosen males
to be a secondary audience.
As we have a genre of supernatural horror our core audience are females because our
main character is females we decided that more females would be attracted to our
opening title sequence, therefore we made females the primary target audience.
However, that does not mean only 16 – 25 year old females will watch our film
therefore as we have an wider audience of essentially anybody, we have also
identified and targeted 16 – 25 year old males also.
This is our main character in our opening title sequence 
BFI Statistics
According to FBI statistics animation, action and comedy were the top 3 most watched
film genres in 2015. As all these genres has a wider target audience, which lots of
people appealed to within different categorizes: children, males and families, etc, it
generated a high gross viewing.
We went with the supernatural horror genre because as a group we decided it would
be the most effective to make and appeal to our target audience more.
Furthermore, as we were researching our target audience we found that the majority
of people who watch supernatural horror films were:
1. Scream 2. The Grudge 3. The Ring 4. Insidious 5. The Haunting
Target Audience
Our primary target audience are: 16 – 30 year old females of all race, religion and
sexuality, who live in urban areas, have an IBS of B,C1,C2 and no mental health
problems. We chose this specific target audience because the representation of our
main character, Lama. As Lama is a harmless, innocent, young girl, we expect the
audience to be similar in ways as they can connect better with a character if they have
relatable characteristics.
Our unique selling point for our film it that the set location is not your typical modern
household of a young female. Our location is more vintage, odd and retro which adds
mystery, tension and confusion to the audience when watching the sequence.
We identified our target audience by looking at similar films that share the same genre
and plot. The findings were females between 16 – 50, who live in suburban areas, with
an IBS ranging between A,B,C1,C2. After we gathered the information we narrowed
the results to have an even more specific target audience. We aimed to target people
who were similar to us.
