Golden Section and Golden rule - in search of absolute truthThe Funtasty
The document discusses the history of searching for universal standards of truth and beauty from ancient philosophers like Pythagoras to Renaissance artists like Leonardo Da Vinci. It describes how Pythagoras first defined harmonic proportions in dividing lines and how later mathematicians like Euclid and Fibonacci further explored the concept of the golden ratio and its application to aesthetics. The golden ratio was seen to appear in proportions of the human body. Later, Jesus Christ's golden rule of treating others as you wish to be treated was seen as a moral universal standard for harmonious interpersonal and international relations. A Recent Technique for Contaminated Soils: BioremediationThe Funtasty
This document discusses bioremediation techniques for cleaning up contaminated soils. It defines bioremediation as using microorganisms, fungi or plants to restore a natural environment impacted by pollution. Methods include stimulating indigenous bacteria to break down oil spills or other contaminants, and augmenting soils with bacteria to degrade pollutants. Bioremediation can occur in situ or ex situ and examples provided are bioventing and phytoremediation using plants to extract heavy metals. The advantages highlighted are lower costs than traditional methods while preserving the natural environment.
