7 IMPORTANT REASONS WHY KIDS/CHILDREN
LIKE YOU
SHOULD HAVE CHORES
1. Chores help teach life
skills. You are young now, but you
won’t be kids forever! Laundry,
cooking and budgeting are just
some of the skills you will need
once you reach adulthood. These
are also things that schools also
teach, making them responsible at
home.
2. Chores help you learn responsibility
and self-reliance. Assigning you a
regular chores helps teach you
responsibility. Tasks that personally affect
you such as cleaning your room or doing
your own laundry, can help you become
more self-reliant at the same time.
3. Chores help teach teamwork.
Members of your family “team” are
accountable to each other, and there
are consequences when you don’t meet
each other’s expectations. Learning
these lessons at home, where mistakes
are more easily forgiven, can help you
develop strong teamwork skills to use at
school or work.
4.Chores help reinforce
respect. It takes moving away
from home for most of us to fully
appreciate all the hard work our
parents did around the house.
Assigning you chores may help
this insight come a little quicker.
You may become more aware of
the messes you make if you are
tasked with cleaning up around the
house, and more respectful of the
work that goes into maintaining a
home.
5. Chores help build a strong
work ethic. This trait is valued by
teachers and bosses, so why not
instill a work ethic in your attitude
from a young age? Chores are
commonly tied to a reward,
example :an allowance or TV time.
Paying children like you for a job
well done can inspire, you will go
to work outside the house once you
finish your college to have a job.
6. Chores help improve planning
and time management skills. It
feels like there are a million things
to do in the day, and fitting it all into
our diaries is a challenge! Chores
can help you build good habits
early. Juggling schoolwork
deadlines, housework and your
social lives helps you learn to set
priorities and manage your time,
important skills for the working
world.
7. Chores give families a chance
to bond. Chores can actually
create special moments between
you and your family. Little ones
who always want to help will feel
important ,and moody teens like
you may decide to open up over a
shared task.
Now that you know the importance of household
chores, let us find out what you feel about having
these chores. Draw face or face in your
study notebook.
