This document describes a drama project conducted in Israel to teach English as a second language. The project developed materials for using drama techniques to improve students' English skills. The materials included scripts for original plays written by the teacher and students on topics relevant to the students' lives. Performing in the plays gave students chances to practice speaking English and helped build their confidence. An evaluation found the drama activities were highly motivating for the students and improved their oral English abilities more than traditional methods.
