Library Research Worksheet
Using the results from the search you conducted on your topic
and research question, complete the research worksheet
responding with a minimum of 150 words per question
(excluding question 4).
1. Who is the author of your first source (or the title if
unnamed), and why is this work credible? Is this source peer -
reviewed, and how can you tell? Quote or paraphrase something
from the source that relates to your topic. Cite that quotation or
paraphrase using APA style guidelines.
The title in which I chose was “Fake News” What are way to
protect ourselves from fake news? And what are three ways to
solve the problem? The first resource that I found interesting
was written by Moravec, Patricia L.; Minas, Randall K.; Dennis,
Alan R. MIS Quarterly. Yes, this would be considered a
credible source as it has all the components that one would look
for to make sure it is credible. It has the date, the author(s)
“We found that the presence of a fakenews flag triggered
increased cognitive activity and users spent more time
considering the headline. However, the flag had no effect on
judgments about truth; flagging headlines as false did not
influence users’ beliefs.”(Moravec, Patricia L , Minas, Randall
K. PG. 2)
2. Who is the author of your second source (or the title if
unnamed), and why is this work credible? Is this source peer -
reviewed, and how can you tell? Quote or paraphrase something
from the source that relates to your topic. Cite that quotation or
paraphrase using APA style guidelines.
The author of the second source I chose is written by Adam
Mills and it is called :” The Relationship
between FakeNews And Advertising: Brand Management in the
Era Of Programmatic Advertising and Prolific Falsehood.” This
source looks to be a peer-reviewed source and I can tell buy the
abstract and how it is written as well as the information about
the publication was examined.
“The article discusses the authors' views about the relationship
between fakenews and advertising as of 2019, and it mentions
issues involving brand management, programmatic advertising,
and the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Ideological
disinformation and advertisers' control are examined, along with
digital advertising, the impact of fakenews on brand integrity,
falsehoods, and organizational advertising. “DOI: 10.2501/JAR-
2019-007. (AN: 135103654)
3. Who is the author of your third (or the title if unnamed), and
why is this work credible? Is this source peer-reviewed, and
how can you tell? Quote or paraphrase something from the
source that relates to your topic. Cite that quotation or
paraphrase using APA style guidelines.
The authors of my third reference are Paisana, Miguel; Pinto-
Martinho, Ana; Cardoso, Gustavo. The title of this published
areticle is called “Trust and fake news: Exploratory analysis of
the impact of news literacy on the relationship
with news content in Portugal.” Again, I researched to make
sure the work was credible by reviewing the information
necessary to check the articles credibility that includes the
authors listed as well as there are dates that the article was
published. The sites that are listed were able to be researched.
“ In order to understand the role of contemporary journalism
and the media system it is vital to consider consumers'
relationship with news content in terms of trust and perception
of dubious content. This analysis is particularly relevant in a
context where intense flows of information raise serious
questions about individual ability to interpret, validate, and
reproduce content. This analysis explores a news literacy scale
used by Maskl et al.” (2015)
4. Create and include the list of references for your sources
provided above. A reference list should be in alphabetical order
by last name. You may use the citation tools from the library or
the Reference and Citation Generator from the Center for
Writing Excellence.

Creating an Outline
An outline helps you arrange the order of ideas in a paper.
Many students eliminate outlining in the
writing process as an unnecessary step. However, writing an
essay without an outline can create
disjointed results. An outline provides a roadmap so that the
essay can move smoothly from point
A to point B to point C. Without an outline, the essay could
easily become disorganized, e.g., A, B,
A, C, B. This can confuse readers because the points of the
essay are not arranged in correct
sequence. Use the following suggestions to create an effective
outline.
Creating Correct Formatting
The following information will help you format an outline
correctly:
• Include at least two elements under each of the sections in the
outline. If you have only
one element, however, you can add additional information to
create at least two points.
• Create parallel wording at the beginning of each section of the
outline. If the first word
begins with a noun, the first words in all other elements in that
section must also begin
with nouns. If the first word is a verb, the other elements must
begin with verbs, etc.
• Include a period, and space or tab after each letter or number.
Be consistent on using
spaces or tabs throughout. (See the sample outline below.)
• Use double spacing in the outline for ease in reading or use
single spacing throughout
and double space between each of the major elements (I, II, II).
• Capitalize the first word after each number or letter in the
outline. Also capitalize proper
nouns, but do not capitalize the other words.
Sample Outline
Use the following as a model to create your outline. If
directions from your instructor differ from
the explanations or example here, follow the guidelines of your
instructor.
