The human body has five senses: smell, taste, touch, sight, and hearing. Each sense is located in a specialized organ. The receptors for smell are located in the nasal cavity, in an area called the pituitary. Taste receptors are located on the tongue, in protrusions called papillae. The receptors for touch are located in the lower layer of skin, and detect pressure and pain. Sight is located in the eye, which collects light stimuli. Hearing is located in the ear, which collects sound stimuli from the ear canal to the brain.
