Cancer cells have two different genetic origins that prevent feedback control. The mutated, foreign DNA sequence has a dominant effect on the cell's metabolism, while the normal DNA has a recessive effect. This asymmetric relationship from separate genetic origins makes cooperation and feedback between the two genetic components impossible. As a result, feedback mechanisms in cancer cells generally do not work successfully, as the normal, recessive dynamic determines the cell's true behavior.
