Looking back at the EDDL 5141 Seminar
WHAT WORKED WELL
 Working with other students, and sharing our
strengths
WHAT WORKED WELL
 Working with other students within our group, and
sharing our strengths
 Presenting in the Moodle shell (notwithstanding
some technical issues).
 It allows for a structured, easy to follow presentation
 It makes it simple for students to follow links, access
discussions and find needed information.
 It makes it easy for facilitators to follow discussions and
progress made by students.
WHAT DIFFICULTIES DID YOU ENCOUNTER IN
PROVIDING CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK TO
PARTICIPANTS ABOUT THEIR ONLINE ACTIVITY
DESIGNS?
o All feedback provided was constructive.
o Not all participants completed their online activities so it was
difficult to provide constructive feedback in that instance, but
the opportunity to do so was built into the seminar.

o Difficulties were more technology based.
o Problems with logging in and staying logged in to the Moodle
site.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO DIFFERENTLY
o I would have just one discussion forum or wiki within the
Moodle site to make it simpler to monitor student
comments

IF THE PARTICIPANTS EXPERIENCED PARTICULAR
DIFFICULTIES, ARE THERE CHANGES THAT CAN BE
MADE TO THE COURSE
o I don’t think that there were any difficulties with the
design of the seminar itself

WHAT AREAS DO YOU NEED TO CONCENTRATE ON
IN ORDER TO IMPROVE AS A TEACHER AND
FACILITATOR OF ONLINE LEARNING
o To continue to learn how to use various Web 2.0 tools
and other technology so that I can successfully
troubleshoot problems

REFLECTIONS OF MY PHILOSOPHY
o I think my philosophy of teaching fits in well with online
teaching and facilitation. I believe that education should
be learner-centered and relevant to the student. I
believe if students can see the value of what they are
learning, they are more likely to be successful. That is
why authentic projects and assignments are an
important part of my courses.
