conclusion.

8. Young earth creationism
is a belief that the universe, the earth and life
on earth were created in a literal
6 days / 24 hour day
I don’t believe this view is correct.
Old earth creationism
is the belief that God used billions of years to
create – it is totally biblical as long as the
order things were created is according to
Genesis 1 - this model line up better with
modern science. This is my clear view.

performs his revolutions from east to west
• … a firmament in which the sun with all the
planets have their motion round the earth

13. • Astronomers say that the stars are lighted as if
it were by the sun – so they could shine.
• If you could compere the sun to the stars and
collect all the stars into “one body”, you would
have a body mass perhaps greater than the
sun

14. John Calvin also wrote a
commentary on Genesis in 1563.
Among many things he writes:
“For astronomy is not only pleasure
but also very useful to be known:
it can not be denied that this art
unfolds the admirable
wisdom of God”

20. God “was” before time – he was and is “light”…

21. Genesis is totally clear on the order of creation.
The order is organised in days – 1th day to the 6th day.
Strong’s dictionary (h3117) tells us
another word for “day” is a division of time,
a period of time or a time period.
“For God 1000 years is like a day – and a day like 1000 years”
(2 Peter 3:8) - It is obvious: God has all the time in the world –
He does not hurry anything!
The biblical “order of creation” and “old earth” theology,
lines up remarkable well with modern science.
The theology of a “literal 6 day creation”
or “young earth” is therefore *#@$?!! (sorry…)

22. 1. Day
(the first time period)

Since the word is in plural,
there must be more than one heaven
Heavens (plural) is the Hebrew word: Shamayim.
Strong’s dictionary (h8064) gives this word
three meanings:
1. Heaven (the abode of the God)
2. Heaven – the universe (the abode of the stars)
3. Heaven – (the sky above us)

25. God first created
1) his own abode – his own “home”
(unless he has always been there) and then
2) the universe – the empty space – the home
of the (soon to come) stars.
1 Kings 8:49 - Heaven is God’s dwelling place
2 Cron. 20:6 – are you not God in heaven
Matt 6:9 – Our Father in heaven
Mark 16:9 – Jesus was taken up into heaven
The way I see it:

26. Heaven was first created – the “city of light”
(where God himself is the light)

28. As a part of creating heaven – his
abode, God created the angels
“The angels were worshipping God
as he was creating the world:
They shouted for joy” (Job. 38:4-7)
As we can see from this text:
The angels existed before the earth

31. “In the beginning God created
the Earth…”
Earth is the Hebrew word: Erets
Strong’s dictionary (h776) gives the word several meanings:
1. Earth – the planet (where man lives)
2. Space (the universe)
And Genesis 1:1 continues,

32. And the earth (meaning the universe) was
formless and void… Gen 1:2

34. …and the Spirit of God was hovering over the universe

35. And God said: Let there be light… Gen 1:3

36. God’s creation of light – a big “explosion” took place - at first a bright hot light
that lasted for just a few thousands years. Then a period of darkness set in (the dark ages)
before new light – stars – started forming. This whole process is included in
God’s command: Let there be light

42. How stars are made:
(a quick lesson in astrophysics – by NASA)
• Stars are born within the clouds of space dust
• Turbulent winds give rise to mass gatherings
• This mass eventually collapses and the material at
the center heats up
• This becomes the core of a star
• A star the size of our Sun takes 50 million years to
mature into adulthood
• It will “live” for +/- 10 billion years before it burns
out

43. • Our Sun is approx. half way into its lifespan
• Stars comes in different sizes
• Dwarfs are only 10% of the size of the Sun
• Hyper giant stars can be 100 times larger then the
Sun
• Their heat (energy) is up to 100 times more then
the energy of the dwarfs
• They burn faster and “only” last a few million
years

into a star (a 50 million year process)

45. The first stars (lights) were created approx. 400 mill . years after “the beginning”
when God said: let there be “light” (13.7 bill ion years ago)

46. The milky-way (our galaxy) alone has more then 300 billion “lights”
of different sizes. Some bigger galaxies have 100 trillion stars.
And there could be as many as 300 billion galaxies.
Total: 1.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 “lights” or
100 million - trillion stars

(the second time period)

48. Genesis 1:6-8 (NKJV)
Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it
divide the waters from the waters.” God divided the waters which were under
the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.
And God called the firmament heaven (sky)

49. It looks like the “planet Earth” was created in the second time period (Day 2) according to
Genesis. Science claim it was made later – at the same time as the Sun and the moon.

50. Important: The Sun (our light star) was not yet created.
The earth is still in darkness just illuminated with a little light from the other stars.
(until the forth day – Gen 1:16)

51. What Moses describes in Genesis 1:6-8 could possibly look something
like this – but one thing we know: this “sky” or earth atmosphere
made it possible for “life on earth”

52. • Some will say the second creation day was not as
impressive as the first
• God creates the sky.
• The sky forms a barrier between water upon the
surface and the moisture in the air.
• At this point earth would have an atmosphere.
• This creative work occurs in one day.
• But it was an important creation day – it prepared
the earth for life – unlike the other planets
• I think we can assume that this “second time period”
was shorter then the first

53. 3. Day
(the third time period)

54. And God said: Let the water under the sky be
gathered to one place… Gen 1:9

56. …and let dry ground appear… Gen 1:9

58. Then God said: Let the land produce vegetation Gen 1:11

59. Notice: The vegetation – mostly evergreens –
was created before the sun
(and must have grown from the light of the stars)

60. 4. Day
(the forth time period)

61. Then God said: Let there be lights (sun and moon)
in the sky to separate the day from night (Gen 1:14)

62. The Moon and the Sun are both about the same age –
4.517 million and 4.760 million years old.
Science say the Earth is slightly older then the moon – 4.540 million

63. Gen 1:16 (Amp. + literal translation)
And God made two great lights, the
greater light (the sun) to rule the
day and the smaller light (the moon)
-literal translation: to rule the night
and the star, and God set them
firmament of the heaven…

64. Most bible translations say:
“God made two great lights, the greater light
to rule the day, and the lesser light to govern
the night. He made the stars also.”
(Or he also made the stars.)

65. The words “he made” does not exist in the
Hebrew text
The translators make it look like the stars was
made in verse 16 – on the forth day.
But the first stars (the lights) was made years
earlier in verse 3 – on day one.

66. Genesis 1:16 could therefor read:
“God made two great lights – the larger
(the Sun) to govern the day, and the lessor
(the moon) to govern the night and the star
(the Sun)”
The moon governs the night and the sun by
reflecting it’s light to earth
In the same way as: the Sun governs the day
by shining it’s light directly on the earth

They also say stars in plural which is incorrect.

The star – singular – is the Sun.

68. The sun is “only” 4.5 billion years old – about 1/3 as old as the universe.
It is expected to burn out in another 4.5 billion years.
In other words: It is half way through it’s life span.
(the universe has a beginning but no end – it will go on forever…)

69. The scientists say the moon also is 4.5 bill years old – jut like the sun.
The Bible says they were made “on the same day” . How accurate is that…

83. These “living creatures” as the Bible calls them, ruled the earth for 180 million years
(that is 30.000 times longer then the time period from Adam until today)

86. When Did the Dinosaurs Live?
Dinosaurs lived throughout the Mesozoic Era, which began 245 million years ago and
lasted for 180 million years. It is sometimes called the Age of the Reptiles. The era is
divided into three periods.
245 to 208 million years ago
During the Triassic period, all land on Earth existed as one enormous mass. It was called
Pangaea. The supercontinent slowly began to break up during the Triassic Period.
Some reptiles, frogs, turtles and crocodiles existed earlier, but dinosaurs didn’t appear
until late in the Triassic period.
The period marked the rise of small, lightly built dinosaurs.
Most of the plants that existed were evergreens.
The period ended with a mass extinction that wiped out most animals and reptiles. An
entire order of plants or animals dies out in a mass extinction. The dinosaurs that
survived flourished in the next period, the Jurassic.

87. JURASSIC period
208 to 146 million years ago
The supercontinent continued to break apart
Dinosaurs ruled the land and flourished during the period
Herbivores and carnivores increased in size; some of the largest dinosaurs
emerged during the Jurassic period
Birdlike dinosaurs first appeared
Flowering plants began to appear late in the period
The Jurassic period also ended with an extinction, but it was not as extensive
as the one in the Triassic period. Only a few types of dinosaurs died out

88. 146 to 65 million years ago
Pangaea ( the earth’s land mass) continued to separate into smaller continents
A wide variety of dinosaurs roamed the land
Birds flourished and spread all over the globe
Flowering plants developed
Mammals flourished
Dinosaurs became extinct by the end of the period. The extinction, the second largest of
all time, marked the end of the Age of Reptiles and the beginning of the Age of
Mammals.
Tyrannosaurus rex (“tyrant lizard”; found in North America and Asia): T. rex, king of the
dinosaurs, dominated the period.

(the seventh time period)

103. Moses tells us in Gen. 2:1-2 “the heavens and earth
were completed – and God rested on the seventh day”

104. Up till now the Bible and science have
matched up “quite good”.
Now it seems they take a little different
direction.
The Bible (Moses) tells us that the creation is
completed. (Gen. 2:1-2)
Science believe the creation of planets and
stars and the expansion of the universe
goes on…

105. But wait a minute – also consider this:
John 5:16-17 (NKJV)
For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and
sought to kill Him,[a] because He had done these
things on the Sabbath.
But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been
working until now, and I have been working”
Aha: God has been working all along…

106. And not only has God been creation “until
now”: How about this one:
Isaiah 65:17-18 (NKJV)
“For behold, I create new heavens and a
new earth; And the former shall not be
remembered or come to mind”

107. I believe we can sum it up like this:
“God created the heavens and the earth – he
has not stopped working – and he creates a
new heaven and a new earth – this is an
everlasting creation process”
(This new heaven is what science calls the
always expanding universe, and the new
earth is the constant reshaping of the earth
through continental drift)
(it is not that the earth is replaced but
reshaped)
