Editor's Notes

  1. 1. Schools and Districts do not have goals to shoot for if there are no standards. If the teacher follows the standards and brings it into his/her classroom parents and students will know what they are supposed to be learning and tested on.
  2. 1. “Standards are guideposts for schools. Teachers, parents and students use them as a tool to focus on what students are expected to learn.”
  3. 1. A movement grew in the 1990’s within a public school system with many levels; local, state, and national. The expectations for students varied broadlyand too few poor and minority students were achieving. Researchers figuredthat if challenging content standards were set, then teachers would teach to those standards and tests would measure if students were reaching the many goals.2.
  4. National organizations create the standards that the states also have to abide by when making theirs. They aren’t like state standards. The public schoolsparticularly thestudents are not held responsible for them. Most states use the national standards as guidelines for creating their own state standards or just fully commit to all the national ones. The no child left behind acts says all American states have to test students in public schools to guarantee that they are meeting the desired level of education. It also requires that students and schools show progress through the school year. This says they must show at least some improvement each year. When a student fails to make example yearly progress, the act states that either summer school or tutoring is made available to the student.
  5. 1. The impact of the state standards are
  6. 1.Nowadays a lot of teachers are at the wrong side of the legislations that undercuts why they entered the profession. To be able to show the joy of learning and use thrill plus excitement in its presence; to teach creatively, passionately and with personal style; and reaching the satisfaction of discovering ways to be successful with even the most difficult students. These are rewards that bring hopeful young people to teaching, and teachers into schools that derive on these qualities are able to experience these feelings throughout their careers.
  7. The educators accountability model is a less complex education that is for the average workers and factory workers as well. A lot of these jobs can go overseas. It is also the model in which a teacher falls under. The political accountability model is the model for political leadership. the ministry of education model is when the people who examined countries with higher levels of education.
  8. “Additional criteria and student assessment data was established for designating school grades, beginning with the 2009-2010 school year for high schools with grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, or grades 10, 11, and 12.” Legislation is trying to get students a lot more college ready during their time in high school. They provide act classes and lecture hall type classes. The legislation is always trying to add cutting-edge knowledge about career options, technology, and skills required for success in adult life. Its critical to meet the challenges, therapidly changing education, economic, policy, and workforce environment.
  9. 1. No matter what the standards are they are usually set for a reason, and obviously aren’t just there for nothing. So even if they do get a little more intense each year and a little more stressful its all worth it. The standards also give us educators things to go by and we just have to be the best teacher by taking that material and incorporating it into our own fun way.
