Reports of family violence incidents to Victoria Police have been increasing year over year from 47,000 in 2012 to over 77,000 in 2016. One woman is killed by a current or former partner almost every week in Australia. Children are present in about one third of family violence cases reported to police. Aboriginal women are 35 times more likely to be hospitalized due to family violence than other women.
