Dutch Design Week 2013 highlighted several projects including DAF Reborn, which reimagined the classic 1960s Dutch automobile as a modern hybrid; Do-It-Yourself Butchering, a kit for humanely slaughtering and butchering live chickens to reconnect people with their food; and EasyFuneral, a low-cost alternative to traditional funeral services to increase competition in the industry. Other projects were Phone Bloks, allowing users to replace individual components of a smartphone; The Powdery, which can prepare customized meals from nutritious powders on demand; and Grey Connections, a mobile knitting station to foster social connections among elderly people such as those with Alzheimer's.
