The DUKW was an amphibious truck produced from 1942 to 1950 that was used during World War 2 for transporting troops and cargo over land and water. It had a production code of DUKW where D stood for the first year of production in 1942, U represented the utility truck body style, K denoted front-wheel drive, and W indicated it had two rear driving wheels. The DUKW continued to be used by various organizations until 1966 and some have been restored for use up until 2012.
