The Fashion Week in Paris saw the launch of an initiative called "Comme le Monde est Petit" (How Small the World Is) that aimed to highlight the work of young designers from developing countries. The project was led by the NGO Peace and Development and featured collections from designers in Madagascar, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Democratic Republic of Congo. It helped expose these emerging talents to international buyers and media in hopes of economically empowering communities in poorer regions.
