After graduating from college, Donald joined his father’s real estate
company the Trump Organization. When his father’s business was barely
making any money, Donald moved to Manhattan where he became involved
in large building projects that would offer opportunities for earing high
profits. In 1990 the real estate market declined, reducing the value of and
income from Donald’s empire. His business was estimated ay $1.7 billon had
dropped down to $500 million within a few years. However in 1997, he was
close to being worth $2 billion.
3. Early Life
Donald John Trump was born on June 14, 1946 (66 years old) in
Queens, New York. Donald was an energetic, assertive child, and his
parents sent him to the New York Military Academy when he was 13.
Donald did well at the academy, both socially and academically, rising to
be a star athlete and student leader by the time he graduated in 1964.
He entered Fordham University and then transferred to the Wharton
School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. After four years, he
graduated with a degree in economics.
4. Starting Point
Donald Trump was by all means a smart man. His father’s business was
making more money once Donald moved to Manhattan and sold houses and
buildings there. Once he started becoming very well known, he would sell what
seemed to be anything he could think of. Donald sold bobble heads, steaks, and even
chocolate. He also wrote about 18 books about his life and how to make money. His
first book was written in 1987 when he was 41 called Trump: The Art of the Deal.
Once Donald had made enough money, he had business skyscrapers, hotels, and golf
courses. Since 1996, The Miss Universe Organization has been owned by Donald as
well. Today, Donald is the executive producer and host of the NBC reality show, The
Apprentice since 2003.
5. Success
Donald Trump’s books are very popular even though he hasn’t
written a new book in over two years. People of all ages read his books
because they think they will maybe be as rich as he is today. However,
Donald’s steaks and chocolate are not very popular today. Most people
don’t even know he once sold them. His bobble heads are still sold in some
tourists attractions in Manhattan. Donald’s show The apprentice has grown
in viewers every season and has had 13 seasons. His daughter and two sons
(Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric) can be seen on most of the shows. The show’s
main point is to help businesses increase profits and expand.
6. Role Model
Donald Trump’s main role model is his dad. Donald and his dad
were very close after Donald started working for his dad. His dad
encouraged Donald to continue with the real estate business On June 25,
1999, Frederick Trump had died of old age when he was 93. Donald had
helped made his father’s business more than $400 million by 1999. His
father was very strict but once Donald started making him money, he eased
up on Donald.
