Wound care presents a growing need and financial burden on the US healthcare system. The aging population and epidemics of diabetes and obesity are driving more patients to need wound treatment. Currently wound care costs over $20 billion annually in the US. There is an urgent need to reduce costs through more preventative and efficient treatment programs that can lower treatment times and improve infection management. Advanced wound care technologies and treatments are a growing market but require evidence that they can improve outcomes in a cost-effective manner.

This document summarizes key learnings from major observational studies and clinical trials on menopause. It discusses that systemically administered progestogens may negate some benefits of estrogens and slightly increase breast cancer risk with treatment durations over 5 years. It notes that isolated estrogens did not impact breast cancer risk in hysterectomized women compared to controls in WHI. It also states that metabolic effects of estrogens and progestogens may differ based on administration route and regimen of sequential vs. continuous combined therapy.

The day-long event will include a mass, opening ceremonies, lectures on dental tourism and temporomandibular diseases, and the recognition of board passers and jubillarian classes before closing remarks.

1. Communication is important when discussing pediatric nuclear medicine procedures, as perceptions of risk vary. Radiology professionals must provide education to pediatricians and the public about realistic radiation risks.
2. The nuclear medicine procedure will involve small amounts of internal radiation similar to an x-ray, posing a very slight increased lifetime cancer risk. Risk-benefit discussions should focus patients on relative risks.
3. Examples comparing the lifetime cancer risk from common nuclear medicine exams to other risks, like accidents or natural causes, can help provide perspective on the minimal risks involved.
The FLASCO Spring Session Agenda outlines the schedule for a two-day oncology conference, including presentations on breast cancer, colorectal cancer, MACRA, QOPI, MIPS, the Oncology Care Model, and QRUR reports. Day two focuses on administrator tracks covering quality reporting requirements and value-based payment models, with case studies and discussions.
Professionals and families from across Europe will be attending the Alstrom Syndrome UK Scientific Symposium on the 6th October 2017 in Birmingham, UK. Dr. Cristina Hickman is a clinical embryology consultant who has been invited to present at various commercially sponsored meetings and consult with several IVF suppliers. She declares no conflicts of interest regarding this presentation. The presentation discusses ways to improve various aspects of IVF, including success rates, efficiency and cost, selection and diagnosis of sperm/oocytes/embryos, and patient-clinic interaction. Artificial intelligence and automation are presented as ways to improve embryo selection and assessment in a more consistent, objective and reproducible manner compared to current practices. This could enhance IVF efficacy and potentially reduce costs.
The document discusses the role of radiation therapy in ovarian cancer treatment. It begins by noting there are often no simple answers to questions about treatment. It then discusses the various specialists involved in ovarian cancer care. Subsequent sections provide details on ovarian cancer types and staging, standard chemotherapy treatment, outcomes associated with disease stage and volume, approved drugs for ovarian cancer treatment, and the rationale for using radiation therapy in ovarian cancer, including techniques and patient selection criteria. Toxicities of radiation therapy are also outlined.
Principles and Practices of Individualized OI and IUISandro Esteves
1. The document discusses principles of individualizing infertility treatment plans based on patient characteristics and biomarkers to maximize effectiveness and safety.
2. Individualizing ovarian stimulation protocols and luteal support involves identifying patient risk factors for poor response or ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome based on age, BMI, medical history, antral follicle count, and anti-Müllerian hormone levels.
3. Biomarkers like AMH and AFC help identify patients who may require more or less aggressive stimulation to balance treatment success and complication risk.

16. Faculty Disclosures
It is the policy of Georgetown University Hospital and International Conference Management, Inc. (ICM) to insure balance, independence, objectivity, and
scientific rigor in all its individually sponsored or jointly sponsored educational programs. All faculty participating in any Georgetown University Hospital or
ICM sponsored programs are expected to disclose to the program audience any real or apparent conflict(s) of interest that may have a direct bearing on the
subject matter of the continuing education program. This pertains to relationships with pharmaceutical companies, biomedical device manufacturers, or other
corporations whose products or services are related to the subject matter of the presentation topic. The intent of this policy is not to prevent a speaker with a
potential conflict of interest from making a presentation. It is merely intended that any potential conflict should be identified openly so that the listeners may
form their own judgments about the presentation with the full disclosure of the facts. It remains for the audience to determine whether the speaker’s outside
interests may reflect a possible bias in either the exposition or the conclusions presented.
