You will never miss a sale!, developments in POD at CB book distributionMathijs Suidman
This presentation discusses print on demand (POD) services at CB book distribution, a Dutch company that distributes books and provides logistical services to publishers and bookstores. CB has seen rapid growth in POD, with the number of POD titles increasing 60% in 2013. POD allows books to be printed and delivered within 24 hours of an order being placed. The presentation argues that POD is an important solution for low-selling "best sellers," as not having books in stock can result in many lost sales. CB expects continued strong growth of 60% in POD titles and volumes in 2014.
This document is a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the development of a catalogue containing information on all Dutch works, both digital and print.
It outlines the objectives to create a complete, unambiguous, and reliable overview of available Dutch content. It describes the background and scope, including a conceptual overview of the envisioned catalogue system.
Requirements are provided for the technical solution, content management, and initial Dutch content. A schedule of events is also included, with deadlines for questions, demonstrations, evaluation, and anticipated contract award and project start dates.

Presentation about POD at CB | Digital Print Forum | Amsterdam 22-3-2016Mathijs Suidman
This document discusses CB, a Dutch book distributor, and its use of print on demand (POD) services. Some key points:
- CB distributes books for Dutch publishers to bookstores and consumers. It provides warehousing, distribution, and financial services.
- CB started offering in-house single-copy POD production in 2011 and it has grown to 19,000 titles, over 20% of available titles.
- POD is integrated into CB's operations and fulfillment centers to provide availability and avoid lost sales when titles go out of stock. It acts as a "safety valve" until traditional print runs can replenish stock.
- Publishers are adding POD to ensure availability and prevent
Oracle Exalytics and Oracle Database In-Memory 12c—the Perfect Match [CON9104]
With the introduction of the Oracle Database In-Memory 12c option, Oracle Exalytics—being Oracle’s in-memory machine—was one of the first candidates to host Oracle Database with the new option. Taking advantage of the high-memory capacity, customers were able to use the familiar Oracle Database as their in-memory database of choice to achieve extreme performance for their business analytics deployments. Join this session to learn about Oracle Exalytics capabilities that make it one of the best platforms to run Oracle Database In-Memory 12c, and hear from customers who have already deployed Oracle Database In-Memory 12c on their Oracle Exalytics platform.
