Major Studio conducted a user test of an experimental QR code poster in the subway to see if it could attract people's attention in a public area. Observations found that no one scanned the code and most people just looked at the poster. Feedback indicated that while the poster was interesting, there was no clear useful information to motivate scanning, and passengers were too tired on the subway to take out their phones. The conclusion was that a QR code can draw attention as a creative element but the main purpose and value for users needs to be very clear.
The document proposes an app called "P Idea" that allows users to take photos, tag them with descriptive words, and then randomly select photos and tags for inspiration. This app is intended to help designers efficiently find unexpected ideas by combining visuals and concepts from nature that are captured in photos and tags. The app differentiates itself from others by having users add tags to photos describing characteristics like color, texture, and smell, which can then be randomly drawn to spark new ideas.
The Staten Island Ferry has provided transportation between Staten Island and Manhattan since the early 19th century. It began as a private operation under the Richmond Turnpike Company in 1817 using steamboats. Cornelius Vanderbilt gained control of the ferry in 1838. Two major disasters occurred on the ferry in the late 19th century: the 1871 boiler explosion of the Westfield that killed over 80 people, and the 1901 sinking of the Northfield after a collision. The City of New York assumed control of the ferry service in 1905.

Here are 3 potential ways a computer screen could protect eyesight rather than damage it:
1. Integrate blue light filtering to reduce eye strain. Blue light emitted from screens is particularly harsh on eyes and disrupts sleep. Screens could filter out high-energy visible blue light without affecting display quality.
2. Allow for adjustable brightness and color temperature settings. Being able to dim screens and adjust warmth can help avoid glare and over-stimulation of the eyes.
3. Implement frequent break reminders. Periodic prompts to look away from the screen and focus on distant objects can counteract digital near-work and encourage blinking to moisturize eyes.

Study: The Future of VR, AR and Self-Driving CarsLinkedIn
We asked LinkedIn members worldwide about their levels of interest in the latest wave of technology: whether they’re using wearables, and whether they intend to buy self-driving cars and VR headsets as they become available. We asked them too about their attitudes to technology and to the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the devices that they use. The answers were fascinating – and in many cases, surprising.
This SlideShare explores the full results of this study, including detailed market-by-market breakdowns of intention levels for each technology – and how attitudes change with age, location and seniority level. If you’re marketing a tech brand – or planning to use VR and wearables to reach a professional audience – then these are insights you won’t want to miss.
