The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) is the domestic intelligence and security service of the United States. It has jurisdiction over violations of more than 200 categories of federal crimes. The FBI gathers and shares intelligence about threats to national security and assists local law enforcement with certain criminal investigations beyond their capabilities.
