SUBJECT: Letter of recommendation for John McDaris
As the Automotive Support Officer in charge of the Stryker Combat Repair Team
supporting 1st
Squadron, 2nd
Cavalry Regiment, I worked on a daily basis with Mr. McDaris since
November of 2007. His performance as the Stryker Team Lead for General Dynamics Land
Systems supporting our Squadron has been nothing short of exceptional.
Mr. McDaris’ maintenance team was directly responsible for completing over 731 major
repair jobs on Stryker vehicles during combat operations in Sadr City, Iraq. His intimate
knowledge of the Stryker family of vehicles has been instrumental to the overall success of 1st
Squadron, 2nd
Cavalry Regiment’s fleet of 78 Strykers. Mr. McDaris constantly demonstrates
superior mechanical and analytical skills by troubleshooting and repairing the most complex
systems in Stryker vehicles and by expertly managing a team of 10 contracted mechanics, and two
Parts Control Clerks under his direct supervision.
As the Maintenance Lead and Supervisor for ICLS, Mr. McDaris excelled in his duties by
achieving the highest Stryker Operational Readiness rate in 2nd
SCR during combat. Mr. McDaris
is an excellent team player with superior skills as a manager and a maintenance supervisor. His
technical expertise, professionalism, and superior management skills literally kept 1st
Squadron’s
Stryker fleet in the fight through several months of intense combat operations.
I strongly recommend Mr. John McDaris for positions of greater responsibility in
contracted maintenance and support of Stryker units.
