The biennial i Light Marina Bay festival featured 28 light art installations, including a 3D projection artwork on the ArtScience Museum called "Celebration of Life". The artwork used 16 Panasonic PT-DZ21KE projectors to project intricate designs onto the museum's complex structure. The projectors delivered bright, high-contrast projections and could be positioned vertically to accommodate the museum. The festival emphasized environmental responsibility, and the Panasonic projectors were suitable as they used less power and had long-lasting filters and lamps.

This document discusses the role of a lighting designer and provides examples for lighting the play "Bus Stop". The lighting designer's jobs are to provide visibility of actors, reveal set designs, add to the mood and style, and suggest a central visual image. For "Bus Stop", the designer proposes using practical cafe lights, colored washes to set moods, and focused area lights on conversations to direct attention. Cue changes would vary in speed to enhance tension. Side lighting would make characters more dynamic during performances.
This presentation is a second version of my talk about Agile Architecture. Comparing to the first version (also available at slideshare) it contains significant more information about elements that comprise Agile Architecture, focusing on its structure and behavior.
We at codecentric, as a technically focused agile organization, get in our projects quite often confronted with the assessment of a customer’s software architecture, or more precisely with the assessment of the existing solution architecture. In many cases it is ok for us to stay in this technical scope and not to touch other, much wider architectural concepts like e.g. enterprise architecture. However, due to the fact, that more and more organizations want to transform to a more agile organization, the alignment between IT and Business, and thus between IT-architecture and Business-architecture becomes much more relevant for us in our projects than in the past and causes many questions to arise. Can we talk in this context about agile architecture? And if so, is it a model of a system or maybe just a process of creating it? Or maybe both? How long can I delay my architectural decisions? Can I refactor my agile architecture? And so on…
In this talk I won’t give you perfect answers to all these questions, however I’m pretty sure I will open your eyes and let you create your own point of view.
1. The document discusses the formal elements of art and architecture including line, light and value, color, texture and pattern, shape and volume, space, and time and motion.
2. It provides examples and definitions for each element, such as describing line quality, value scales, color properties like hue and saturation, and how techniques like linear perspective and atmospheric perspective create the illusion of space.
3. Key works are referenced to illustrate concepts, for example Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam demonstrates different line qualities, and Durer's woodcut shows the use of cross-hatching and one-point perspective.
Daniel Libeskind believes that architecture has undergone important changes in the last ten years. Specifically, architecture has become more connected to the world and people now recognize architecture plays a central role in their lives. Libeskind also notes that sustainability and environmental awareness are now seen as important aspects of architecture. While styles and trends may change, Libeskind believes some rules of architecture will always be valid, such as designing buildings that are both beautiful and truthful.

Light plays an important role in our daily lives. Light is also key to design. There’s design for light and design with light. Yet the way light is used morphs with new inventions and with increased awareness regarding sustainability and energy consumption.

Room configuration using lighting.
Light as a building block
Natural light is an obvious component of architecture and one of the main building blocks of a room. Artificial light is a vital complement. Good lighting supports the architect’s vision and enhances a room’s configuration. Luminaires should function as an extension of the building.

Abstract:
This work analyses architectural lighting as an element of brand communication. The lighting is comprehended as the message of a sender, which has an impact on the appearance of architecture. In the context of experiments and case studies, the effects of lighting on the appearance will be examined for a neutral space and for interiors and exteriors in the retail and service sectors. Illuminance, luminance distribution, as well as the light spectrum and dynamic serve as independent variables of lighting. A model for the brand personality with the four factors of temperament, competence, attractiveness and naturalness will be drawn upon for the appearance as an independent variable, as well as a sociological model with the two factors of style and price for social milieus. The experiments are carried out in real space and using light simulations. The results provide correlations between the perception of brightness, contrast, colour temperature and colourfulness and the factors for the two models relating to the appearance. In individual cases models exist for predicting the appearance on the basis of the subjective evaluation of light. This work documents significant differences for both models with respect to the appearance due to an alteration of the light physics parameters of luminous intensity distribution and light spectrum. The economic analysis of the experiments did not result in any significant correlations between higher investment or operating costs and a correspondingly higher subjective price impression of the various lighting situations. Case studies on design guidelines for lighting prove the various lighting design and lighting technology strategies, as well as the processes in business practice. The semiotic analysis of case studies considers architectural lighting as symbol, the properties of the appearance as the object and the consumer as the interpretant, and discusses strengths and weaknesses in communication. In this way, the work produces a differentiated connection between architecture, lighting and marketing.

This document provides an overview of Baroque architecture, painting, and sculpture. It notes that Baroque architecture featured curved lines on columns, light effects, and rich ornamentation and materials. The paintings of this period were characterized by realism, a sense of movement and energy, and a depiction of strong emotions across a variety of subjects. Sculpture emphasized realism, intense feelings, movement, energy, and the effects of light. Key artists mentioned include Bernini, Borromini, Mansart, Wren, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Rubens, Velazquez, Ribera, Zurbaran, and Murillo.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive functioning. Exercise boosts blood flow, releases endorphins, and promotes changes in the brain which help regulate emotions and stress levels.

Architects are problem solvers, we all solve problems differently. Problems in architect speak could mean; the kitchen is too small, the rooms need to be opened up, more natural light is needed, more space is desired. What problem can we solve for you?
