GE320AC™
DRIVE SYSTEM
For 320-Ton Truck Applications
GDY106 AC
Motorized Wheel
The GE320AC™ Drive System for 320-ton rear dump haul trucks delivers the performance and economics required
by today's mining industry. The result is a wheel system with worldwide experience for this truck size.
The improved GE320AC system offers:
• New transmission featuring larger and more capable gears and bearings.
• Increased reliability and simplified maintenance with a new ventilation system design.
• Improved performance, including broader tractive effort, higher stall torque, and continuous and short-time
retarding to near zero mph.
• Lower operating and life cycle costs, with better horsepower utilization, reduced maintenance and improved
tire life.
• Higher rated control components.
The component designs in the
improved GE320AC System are
the result of more than 3 million
operating hours in demanding
haulage conditions. The system can
help mines make major inroads in
improving their productivity.
GE320AC™
Drive System
The GE320AC™ Drive System for 320-ton (short) rear dump truck
application features AC propulsion technology and individual motor
control. The system consists of an alternator/rectifier, two GTO
inverters (one per motor), dynamic retarding through the inverters, one self-
ventilated dynamic retarding grid package and two AC motorized wheels.
The GTA41 alternator is designed with a single fan that provides the air necessary to ventilate the alternator, wheel
motors and control. The GE InvertexTM
control system, GE’s most advanced microprocessor control technology,
features a diagnostic information display (DID) panel to minimize on-board troubleshooting. This control system’s
Windows®
-based Portable Test Unit (PTU) capability improves the management of truck data and provides graphic
plots of real-time truck operation.
All components of the GE system have been designed to enhance performance characteristics, increase productivity
and reduce maintenance, resulting in reduced operating cost per ton.
