This newsletter provides information about upcoming events for students living in the cottages, including a s'mores night, applications for a leadership committee, and health and safety room checks. It promotes getting to know the community assistant and attending various social and spiritual events. A quote is included about radical obedience to Christ. Brief bios of the cottage staff are provided.

2. Events
S'moresNight: This Sunday, Sept. 25th- Come hang out on the cottage
lawn for some s'mores @ 9:30pm.
LACApplications: If you would like to serve on LAC this year, make
sure to turn your application in by 5pm on Friday, Sept. 30th. Any
questions, contact Chase at chase.burns@calbaptist.edu
HealthandSafety: Your RA and RD will be coming around the next few
weeks to make sure your room is healthy and safe. Refer to your RA to
know the exact time they will be coming around, if you would like to be
present.
GettoknowyourCA: Come out to the cottage lawn on Thursday, Sept.
29th and hang out with Chase from 7:30-9! There will be free pizza and
he would love to play some games, chat and then head over to tribe
with you.
TwirpWeek:Sept. 26th- 30th. It all starts with a free Towr's concert on
Monday night at 7pm. Tuesday is game day with the Angels playing at
7:05. Indiana Jones will be making his CBU premier at 7pm on
Wednesday and Thursday will feature a lot of 'characters' at the Barn
Dance, also at 7pm. Last, spend the day with Mickey, Bae or both by
heading to Disneyland. The Twirp event will be in California Adventure
and will feature a scavenger hunt.
Chargersvs.Broncos- Tickets for this event are $40 and they go on
sale October 3rd @ 8m in the Comm. Life Lounge. The game will be
played on October 13th. The price includes your ticket, a ride to and
from the game and a $10 meal voucher.
JoshuaTreeRockClimbing: If you want some 'daring' adventure in
your life or just simply love the outdoors, join Comm. Life on this
Outdoor Adventure trip. Follow Comm. Life on instagram for more
information.
VolleyballSign-Ups: This is a pretty big deal. Ok, not as big as Fortuna
or Lancer Cup but still a rec sport to take pride in. Sign-ups start
September 29th.
ASCBUFreshmenSenateElections:Make sure to make your voice
heard and vote for your future senator. Elections are done via
Lancermail link and begin Sept. 26th - Sept. 28th.
Sports: There are a ton of ways to support your Lancers! Follow
@cbulancers for game day updates or look for their signs around
campus!
Ladiesnight; Strength& Dignity:Men your turn is over. On October
6th from 6pm-9pm the Rec Center will be open only to the Ladies. Tote
bags, Zumba Sunset Stretch, a FitJam and a Resource Fair is what you
can expect to see and do. Get your nails done and grab a snack too!
ChallengeNight:Join us on October @ 8pm in Innovators. This is an
amazing night to connect with Tribe members (although everyone is
welcome), worship together and dive into God's word as a community.
FreshmenTribe:Every Thursday night at 9pm in Staples we will be
hanging out, studying God's word and growing spiritually together. You
do not want to miss this!

Rachel Jones, Resident Director
"Hello my name is Rachel Jones and this will be my 3rd as RD for the Cottages. I graduated from CBU back in 2012 (before we had running water)
and have been working here ever since. I love the excitement and learning that comes with living and working in a freshmen area. I hope the
Cottages can become a place where you feel at home and where the beginning of lasting friendships take place. I would love to get to know
each of you so please don't hesitate to stop by my cott or schedule a time to hang out with me. My favorite thing about the Cottages is the porch
life we have. It brings a homey and comfortable feeling, I also love watching students utilize the grass area. I love coffee and anything salty, so if
you ever need to bribe me you know the tricks ;) I attend Redeemer Baptist church here in Riverside and absolutely adore my church family and
the community I have found there. I am beyond excited to have you as a part of our Cottage community here and I hope you feel welcomed and
loved!"
