The forest officials in Uttarakhand were dealing with the problem of tiger and leopard skin smuggling. They first searched Rajaji National Park but found nothing, so they turned their investigation to Jim Corbett National Park. During the investigation, a Nepali woman known as "Dadi" was implicated in the smuggling ring. It is believed that on her orders, the Corbett Tiger Reserve and surrounding forests have been heavily exploited for wildlife skins. Five smugglers were caught with five tiger and leopard skins in February by a joint team from UP STF and the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, and two of the caught smugglers were connected to the gang of the Nepali woman Dadi.
